It’s the New Year’s resolution that you make over and over again! “This is the year that I’m going to lose that extra weight, the year that I’m going to finally get in shape.”
Have you struggled to be consistent with your workouts and healthy eating habits? Have you been a false starter like so many people who say they need to exercise but never really get around to it.
Make the choice to not have a choice. Do what I do….
Do something every day. I do 3 hard strength and conditioning workouts per week, and I walk daily, foam roll, or do mobility exercises.
I’ve made exercise a daily habit. Do you have to think about brushing your teeth in the morning? Figure out if you have enough time, or if you “feel” like brushing? No, you just do it.
You don’t have to love your workout either – but you still have to do it!
Are your workouts uncomfortable in the short term? Maybe. Setting any new habit requires some adjustment. But maybe some discomfort in the short term is what’s required for long term success. What do you think?
Most of us want to improve something in our lives. For a lot of us, we want to finally lose that 10 pounds, 25 pounds, 50 or more. We get motivated and start on a diet and exercise program. Somewhere along the way, we lose our motivation; we may still workout but eating properly – consistently – eludes us.
Let’s learn from what we have done in the past, but didn’t stick to. Let’s put it behind us and slow down. Let’s be our own best friend trying to help you reach your fitness and weight loss goals. High five yourself for planning and preparing healthy meals, giving yourself a thumbs-up for not missing workouts.
Let’s be passionate about our health and fitness together! If you aren’t taking action towards something, the desire means nothing.
Action is the decider!
